More than 100 Maȟpíya Lúta students are set to take part in the 48th Annual Lakota Nation Invitational (LNI), a five-day celebration of culture, academics, athletics, and community taking place in Rapid City at The Monument.
Throughout the week, students will proudly represent Maȟpíya Lúta across a wide range of competitions and exhibitions that highlight Lakȟóta identity, creativity, and excellence. Participation spans both traditional and contemporary disciplines, reflecting the many ways students learn, lead, and express themselves.
Maȟpíya Lúta students will proudly represent their school in the Art Show, archery, handgames, Tȟéča Wačhípi, cheer competition, business competition, the Lakȟóta Language Bowl, skateboarding, Knowledge Bowl, oral interpretation, and, of course, basketball.
The Lakota Nation Invitational is more than a competition—it is a time for schools to come together to represent their communities and families, and a time for our people to reconnect, gather, and celebrate. Each year, LNI creates space for shared pride, laughter, and belonging, making it one of the most meaningful and beautiful gatherings of the year.
For daily LNI schedules, highlights and recaps, please follow Maȟpíya Lúta on Facebook and Instagram.
For those who are unable to attend in person, live coverage of select events is available for a fee at: lni.liveticket.tv
We wish the best of luck to all teams and participants at LNI. Wóphila to our students for representing Maȟpíya Lúta with pride, discipline, and heart.
