At Maȟpíya Lúta, success begins early. Across every court, field, and trail, our middle school athletes are discovering what it means to lead with heart, discipline, and community pride — qualities that will carry them into high school, college, and beyond.
Volleyball: Building Confidence and Team Spirit
The Maȟpíya Lúta Tȟabpápsičapi volleyball program wrapped up a standout season marked by growth, resilience, and teamwork. The A-Team battled through back-to-back three-set thrillers to capture the A-Team Championship, demonstrating composure under pressure and a never-quit attitude. The C-Team also earned a third-place finish, a testament to depth and developing talent across the program.
These student-athletes are learning early what it takes to succeed — commitment, trust, and the power of playing for something larger than themselves.
Football: Strength in Brotherhood and Perseverance
The Maȟpíya Lúta Sitȟápa middle school football team showed remarkable grit this season, highlighted by a high-scoring semifinal matchup against Batesland that kept fans on their feet from kickoff to the final whistle. Despite a narrow 58–46 loss, the Sitȟápa demonstrated heart, hustle, and sportsmanship that reflect the deeper lessons of teamwork and perseverance taught at Maȟpíya Lúta.
Cross Country: Running Toward the Future
This fall, our young runners pushed through long miles and tough courses with focus and determination — many achieving personal best times as they represented Maȟpíya Lúta across the region.
Two middle school sisters, Kimimela R. and Gracie R., made history this season by earning a spot on the Maȟpíya Lúta Girls Cross Country Team that qualified for the State Meet. Competing alongside high school athletes, they showed that leadership and excellence can begin at any age. Their achievement embodies the Maȟpíya Lúta spirit — where students rise to every challenge and carry their Lakota values with pride.
