Maȟpíya Lúta’s Dual Language Immersion Program has been named a recipient of the Goldin Foundation for Excellence in Education’s Exemplary Project Award—a national recognition honoring innovative, high-impact educational programs.
Established in 1989, the Goldin Foundation recognizes outstanding educators and programs that demonstrate measurable success and meaningful contributions to students and communities. Exemplary Project Awards are not application-based; programs are nominated and selected following a review process that includes evaluation and site engagement, underscoring the significance of this honor.
The award recognizes programs that have demonstrated at least three years of success and show strong potential for replication in other communities. At Maȟpíya Lúta, the Immersion Program serves learners from early childhood through high school, supporting Lakȟóta language revitalization while preparing students to be adaptable, creative, and grounded in their identity.
As part of this recognition, Maȟpíya Lúta joins a distinguished group of national and international organizations whose work is considered a model for educators across the country. The program will also be shared with school leaders nationwide as an example of best practices in education.
