Students, families, and staff gathered on Friday for Maȟpíya Lúta’s annual All-School Social Dance, an afternoon filled with laughter, music, and tradition. The event featured the potato dance, rabbit dance, and round dance, bringing together students of all ages to celebrate community and culture.
The highlight of the celebration was the crowning of this year’s Maȟpíya Lúta Royalty. These young leaders will represent our school with pride over the next year at powwows, school events, and community gatherings.
Congratulations to the 2025–26 Maȟpíya Lúta Royalty:
Miss Maȟpíya Lúta — Athena W. E.
Junior Miss Maȟpíya Lúta — Ske Lúta G.
Lil Miss Maȟpíya Lúta — Sakowin R.

When asked how it feels to hold the title, Athena shared, “It feels amazing to be Miss Maȟpíya Lúta. I get to finally represent my school in a good way through showing up at powwows and being the best version of myself.”
Ske Lúta, who previously held the title of Lil Miss and now steps into the role of Junior Miss, reflected on her journey, saying, “It feels good. I feel happy. I’m proud of everybody who tried, and I hope they’ll get it next time.”
Our youngest representative, Sakowin, spoke proudly about her new role. “It feels good to be Little Miss Maȟpíya Lúta because I get to be the leader of the elementary,” she said.
Maȟpíya Lúta also extends gratitude to last year’s royalty for their outstanding representation and leadership:
Miss Maȟpíya Lúta — Tonirae GB
Junior Miss — Gracie B.
Lil Miss — Ske Lúta G.
Their dedication and commitment have set a strong example for this year’s newly crowned royalty to follow.
As the drums echoed through the gym and students danced in celebration, the event served as a reminder of the unity, pride, and cultural strength that define Maȟpíya Lúta. The new royalty now carry that spirit forward, representing our community with honor in the year ahead.
