Senior Cody Two Bulls has been named a 2026 Citizen Honors Award recipient by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society—one of the nation’s most prestigious civilian recognitions of service, courage, and character.
Cody is one of just six honorees selected from across the United States, recognized by a panel of Medal of Honor Recipients—individuals who represent the highest ideals of courage and sacrifice in our nation. The award honors Americans who demonstrate those same values through selfless service, integrity, and commitment to others in their communities.
Presented annually on National Medal of Honor Day (March 25) in Washington, D.C., the Citizen Honors Awards were established to show that the values behind the Medal of Honor—courage, sacrifice, and service—are not limited to the battlefield, but are lived out every day in communities across the country.
Cody was recognized in the Youth Service category for founding Backpacks & Baseball, a grassroots initiative dedicated to supporting children and families on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Through his leadership and personal commitment, Cody has distributed thousands of backpacks, meals, holiday gifts, and essential supplies to those in need.
What began as a simple idea has grown into a year-round effort that creates not only access to resources, but also safe, joyful spaces for youth and families to gather, play, and feel supported. His work reflects a deep understanding of community and a genuine commitment to uplifting others.
In addition to his service, Cody has been an active part of student life at Maȟpíya Lúta. Since transferring, he has competed in track and field and basketball, demonstrating dedication, teamwork, and perseverance both on and off the field.
According to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, the Citizen Honors Awards are a cornerstone of their mission to inspire future generations. Honorees are selected through a rigorous national process, with finalists reviewed and chosen by Medal of Honor Recipients themselves—making this recognition especially meaningful.
Cody’s selection places him among individuals whose actions range from life-saving heroism to decades of service to others. While each story is unique, all reflect a shared commitment to putting others first.
At Maȟpíya Lúta, we see that same spirit in Cody every day—in his leadership, his generosity, and his dedication to community. His recognition on a national stage is a powerful reminder that young people are not only the future—they are already leading today.
Congratulations! We are so proud of you Cody!
